Someone once told Faithful Johannes that his live show was like watching a man forced to rap at gunpoint. He took this as a compliment at the time, but is not so sure anymore. He makes spoken word songs and the accompanying electronic music. He lives in Durham City. He takes an ironing board to his gigs. It has been mistaken for a surf board. Johannes does not surf. He holds up large signs to help annotate his narratives or reinforce the choruses and gives out personalised notes to audience members. In 2018 his ‘Ghosts in My Attic’, about an unsuccessful attempt to clear out his loft, was voted North East song of year. In 2019 Johannes released his debut album ‘Thrills & Bills’. His 2021 'Is Hopeful EP' was described by I Said Yeah, as 'An utter joy. Short, sharp, and life-affirming.' His story album 'Ken & Jean' followed in September 2021 on pink vinyl, NARC Magazine called it 'a gem fit for any collection' and he'd not paid them to say that. He has vowed to put out a Christmas single every year until his death. He has had support from BBC Introducing shows in the North East and Teeside and national airplay from Tom Robinson who's said he's 'effing brilliant' and Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music.
