Biography

Crafting brooding sonic textures has been the focus of Guy Andrews’ composition since he started writing music in the mid-2000s.
Positioned in a novel space between musician and producer, his work lies predominantly in the sphere of abstract electronic composition.
Pushing his own creativity out of its comfort zone to make composition an autobiographical process has become an integral part to his artistry. His works are now often instigated in unfamiliar locations away from the comforts of his studio, as he actively seeks conditions and surroundings that’ll add a bias to his creative decision making.
His diverse back catalogue has seen his work released on a range of acclaimed record labels such as Houndstooth, Hemlock, Hotflush and Erased Tapes.
In 2015 he released his debut album on Houndstooth entitled Our Spaces, which was followed up by a collaborative release on Erased Tapes with Masayoshi Fujita, where the two musicians recorded an improvised session for BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction at the iconic BBC Maida Vale studios.
In 2017 Andrews followed up his debut album with Tåke – seeing him featured in popular publications such as The Guardian, Future Music, and Fact TV as well as perform in live music venues across Europe.
In late 2020, Andrews adds to his ongoing story with Permanence – a continually playing body of work where his introspective approach to composition becomes evermore apparent.
