Jelle has released three jazz albums with his band, Jelle Van Giel Group: Songs for Everyone (2015), The Journey (2017) & Third Story (2021). In 2024 Jelle will release an EP with his new band, Close Distance Band. This is the latest musical endeavor led by Jelle Van Giel, who explores fresh compositions where the fusion of piano and guitar takes center stage. This is executed in Jelle's distinctive style, characterized by its melodic, energetic, catchy, and sonically rich elements. The foundation of CLOSE DISTANCE BAND is rooted in improvised music, featuring atmospheric indie-rock influences and cinematic soundscapes. He toured in the Czech Republic, France, China, Iceland, UK, Romania, Hungary, etc. with differe t projects and played at the Nanjing Jazz Festival, Jazz A Viènne, North Sea Jazz Festival, Pukkelpop, The Hague Jazz Festival to name a few. He's also active in the classical world where he writes compositions and arrangements for various orchestras/ensembles. Since 2019 he’s active as a composer for series/film. He participated in the second season of Over water season 2 as assistant composer for Raf Keunen and worked with him on some other projects. He also occasionally works with Michel Bisceglia as assistant composer. For instance on the animated movie, Charlotte, starring Keira Knightley. Recently he scored his first short movie, produced by Klifhangers: Please, tell me you're fine. premièred in February of 2024.
