Biography

Jazz Drummer,Composer Producer and Television icon Thomas Blachman is one of the most frontier-seeking and eccentric artists in Denmark. Since his debut in 1985 he played with names like Lee Konitz,Joe Henderson Niels Henning Ørsted and GinmanBlachmanDahl Just to name a few. Blachman has set a new framework for the level of ambition in the Danish music world. With his idiosyncratic approach and his eye for bridging genre boundaries gave him 5 grammys before age 35. Be it on Caroline Henderson's 7 Grammy-winning smash hit 'Cinemataztic' (1995) or the award-winning albums under his own name, where he combines the tones of jazz with the language of hip-hop with the utmost naturalness. The works 'The Style and Invention Album' (1994), 'Blachman Introduces Standard Jazz & Rap, Vol. 1' (1995) and 'Four Corners of Cool' (1997) should be highlighted in this context. In the general Danish public, Blachman is known as one of the judges in 'X Factor', where he is always guaranteed to let his verbal saber cut through mainstream television. As the only judge who has been with the program since its Danish conception 16 years ago, 'X Factor' can today be seen as much as a portrait program about Blachman him self one of the last eccentrics and a real modern renaissance man.
