Matt Wixson is a Detroit-based singer-songwriter and producer, among other things. Since 2005 he has put out an ever-evolving stream of DIY solo music. In 2007 he played keys on tour with Connecticut-based skacore band, the Flaming Tsunamis. Between tours that year he released the album God Hates Babylon Party Machine, the gayest ska album in history at the time. In 2008 he assembled Keasbey Nights, a collection of solo songs from 2005 thru 2007, for Community Records. From 2010 to 2018 he fronted three-piece punk band Matt Wixson's Flying Circus, and did several band releases with Community Records. In 2019 he started Hornpod: A Ska Podcast with St. Louis radio host JJ Loy, and in 2022 launched the Still Stubborn project with King Django for Stubborn Records. In 2023 something changed, and songs starting coming out at a superhuman pace. By year’s end, Wixson released over 40 songs across various LPs, EPs, singles, splits, guest spots, compilations, and tribute albums. Genre was now a concern for other creatives, as Wixson announced to the world that reggae, electro, hardcore, folk and comedy could live side by side in the same discography. Wixson's vocals, guitars, keyboards, writing, and production have appeared on releases by the Suicide Machines, Big D and the Kids Table, the Stubborn All-Stars, We Are The Union, the Fad, the Flaming Tsunamis, Heavensbee, J. Navarro & the Traitors, Rocky Sullivan Psy.D, CbJ, AntiCrust, Frank White, Sean Arawjo, and more.
