Sophie Kauer is a British-German cellist and actress, born in London in 2001. She is studying for a BA in Classical Cello Performance at the Norwegian Academy of Music, with renowned cellist Torleif Thedeén. Previously, she studied at the Junior Royal Academy of Music in London on a scholarship. Sophie was recently selected from hundreds of cellists worldwide for a leading role in the film TÁR, written and directed by Todd Field, starring Cate Blanchett as an orchestral conductor. Sophie provided live performances for the film, including playing with the Dresden Philharmonie. She has also recorded music with the London Symphony Orchestra for the soundtrack album. Released by Deutsche Grammophon in October 2022, it went to No.1 in the US Classical Billboard chart. Now, she releases her first solo EP on Deutsche Grammophon in March 2023.
