Biography

Born in Trieste, Črtomir Šiškovič studied in his native city and in Ljubljana (Slovenia). In 1976 he gratuated with full marks from the Conservatory of Trieste, then furthered his studies with Igor Ozim and the Amadeus Quartet in Cologne, where, in 1980, he earned a diploma with full marks and special mention at the prestigious Musikhochschule. In 1982 he took specialization courses with Franco Gulli and the Borodin Quartet in Bloomington (USA), with Max Rostal in Klagenfurt (Austria), and with Viktor Pikaizen in Switzerland. In the chamber music field, he has performed with numerous and prestigious ensembles internationally, appearing with musicians such as Franco Gulli, Konstantin Bogino, Michael Flaksman, Irena Grafenauer, Maria Graf, Igor Lazko, Davide Formisano and Radovan Vlaković. As a soloist, he has performed with renowned orchestras. His intense solo activity has led him to appear with famous conductors, such as Hubert Soudant, Gustav Kuhn, Fabio Luisi, Frans Brüggen, Juozas Domarkas, Uroš Lajovic, Anton Nanut, Matthias Bamert, Michael Tabachnik, Lior Shambadal, Lovrenc Arnič and Shunsaku Tsutsumi. He has toured Europa, the USA, Japan, China, Mongolia and South Korea, appearing at the most important venues. He has made numerous television recordings for European, Chinese and Japanese networks; as well as CD recordings for important Italian, German, Russian, Slovenian, Serbian and Japanese labels. In February 2017 he was named by Naxos “Artist of the month”.
