Vocalist Steve Wright and multi-instrumentalist David P. Crickmore were discovered by Bill Nelson (ex-Be Bop Deluxe and Red Noise) who produced and released Feels Like Winter Again on his own Cocteau label. A UK indie chart Top Ten. Later in April 1982, Bill’s brother Ian joined Fiat Lux Polydor signed them and they recorded with producer Hugh Jones. The singles "Secrets" & "Blue Emotion" both skirted the UK charts. “one of the most criminally underrated singles of the decade.” www.louderthanwar.com UK and European tours followed along with radio sessions and TV appearances. The original Fiat Lux line-up disbanded in 1985. Ian Nelson died in 2006. Crickmore and Wright reformed Fiat Lux in 2017 releasing a remake of their signature song Secrets. An album of new material Saved Symmetry followed in March 2019. In April 2019 Cherry Red released Hired History Plus – a double CD set of the Polydor years, including the previously unreleased "Ark Of Embers" album. That LP, in its original form as a stand alone vinyl edition, finally came out later that year. November 2019 also saw Fiat Lux return to live work. In 2020 the single (How Will We Ever) Work This Way previewed the 2021 third album "Twisted Culture", while 2022 brought the Christmas single "If All I've Said Is True".
