Self-proclaimed "Hip-Pop" artist Icey Da Boss is an energetic rapper with a futuristic sound reminiscent of rap powerhouses like Lil Wayne and Young Thug. With his four alter ego's (Lil Durag, Dragon Hoez, George Gervin and Wintertime Icey), he seamlessly switches his style up from song to song. Born Emanuel Thomas Brooks Jr. in Jacksonville, NC, the rapper's family moved to Roxboro soon after his birth due to his father leaving the Marines. At age 10, Icey's father committed suicide, causing him to develop PTSD. To cope with his father's death, as well as the gang violence he witnessed in his surroundings, he started rapping, and has continued to express himself through his art ever since. 
 After releasing several mixtapes, Icey Da Boss released his first album “Me vs. You” in 2018. In 2019, he was nominated for “Best New Artist” by The Carolina Music Awards. He has performed at venues and showcases all over North Carolina, various showcases in different parts of the US, and in his very own concert series: “The Energy.” His second official album “ONEGAWD” is set to release summer 2020.
