MOURAD is a New Zealand Moroccan hip hop artist hailing from the Capital city, Wellington, Tawa specifically. Growing up in the outer area of Wellington, MOURAD began his musical journey by doing what every teenager who loves hip hop music does, started writing his own raps in his bedroom. With his friends also beginning to rap they would have cyphers at lunch and after school, but MOURAD was quite reserved when it came to these cyphers as he would only occasionally partake in them, in his words “I was very self conscious about the stuff I said and if people would think it was good, so I refrained from sharing any of my art for a long time, only close people would hear stuff” As he matured into his late teens he kept making music but also grew deeper into the streets of Wellington as his needs and wants grew, during this time he would see many ups and downs but continued to make music dropping songs like “Got Me Going” and “That Way” which created a small buzz in the city. After a 2 year hiatus from releasing music, MOURAD dropped his first come back single “Forever” with a captivating music video directed by 24k Media, this sees MOURAD use the city skyline as a backdrop to his everyday life, in this words “this is what we would do any day, get the homies, bring the whips out and go chill somewhere, only difference is I’m performing in front of cameras” After releasing “Forever” MOURAD is back to show that he is just warming up, with an array of new releases ahead.
