Tyler McBratney, otherwise known as Crape, is an indie artist inspired by bands The Cure and The Backseat Lovers . His musical style is a result of endless experimentation with rap, melodic hip hop, punk rock, surf rock, and other types of alternative rock. After being born in 2004 in New York, Crape grew up in Northern California. He was always passionate about both music and sports, eventually giving up a chance at college basketball to pursue his music career. He began making his own music in middle school, taking digital production lessons from well-known Bay Area producer, Miles Foley (Foley.beats), and signed with longtime manager, Patrick “PJ” Rousche. In 8th grade he began putting vocals to his own tracks and built a local reputation as “Lil Crape”. Two years later, he became just “Crape” and transitioned his musical style away from rapping and towards melodic hiphop. In the years since then, he has experimented with all types of rock and landed at Indie Pop/Rock but still continues to push the boundaries of genres. In 2020, Crape dropped his most popular single, Psycho, currently at 2.7 million streams. This boosted his music career and brought a lot of opportunities, including a 6-figure offer in early 2021 from a record label, which he declined, choosing to remain independent. In 2023, Crape continues to push genre boundaries and develop his sound with producer, Dylan Woods. He will also be performing multiple shows across the country.
