Top Finnish cellists Jaani Helander and Lukas Stasevskij formed Cellomania to expand the boundaries and limits of the cello so they could play the music that they love. Their debut album Mania Unleashed (described in Tuonela magazine’s review as “epic” and “gorgeously executed”) features covers of pop and rock songs, game and film music, and Helander’s first composition, Nocturne. Helander and Stasevskij met in 2008 while studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Cellomania was born in 2019, and their debut concert was on Helsinki’s Allas Sea Pool stage in 2020. In 2022 they opened the prize ceremony of the Nordic Council of Ministers at the Helsinki Music Centre with Helander's composition Festive Anthem. The performance aired live in all the Nordic countries. Cellomania released a single titled Towards the New Horizon in spring 2023. It is a collaboration with Ginette inventor Petteri Mäkiniemi and electro artist Ahva. An acoustic single titled Spectrum of Light came out in late 2023. Cellomania had their biggest live show so far on May 4th, 2024 at the Tampere Hall in Finland.
