From a background of multidisciplinary artists and musicians, in a small town responsible for the birth of funk music, Isai Morales gives us a point of view unlike that of many others in his work. Painting a picture of what it’s like to grow up as one of the few Latinos in the Midwest; over 808’s and dreamy chords, with influences of Latin Jazz and Funk, the sound is one in its own. Focusing on themes that involve his family’s stories and upbringing in his music, he was able to garner the attention of Jarritos in 2022 and was chosen as a finalist in their JarriTODOS grant contest. He would later catch their attention again in 2023, winning the Mineragua Fizz To Jazz contest in which he flipped a sample and created a jingle out of it. Creating and making friends with many names across different genres over the last 15 years, Isai has been able to create a diverse catalog of sounds that cross into multiple genres. Not held by any boundaries sonically gives every project its own unique world, in its own beauty.
