California-based Electronic producer Vijay Jayant is never constrained by a single subgenre. Since the formation of Dust Breaks in 2013, Jayant has refined a sound characterized by gritty aggression and a production style that glorifies the rhythm section. His signature aesthetic has been applied many subgenres under the umbrella of Electronic music, and the natural evolution of his sound is seen with each significant LP release. Throughout his musical journey, Jayant has showcased an eclectic diversity of styles and genres, from the 90s-inspired Big Beat and Industrial Metal of his debut LP, Organism (2016), to the slick and modern Bass/Tech House of his sophomore release, Fossil (2023), and currently, an exploration of Drum and Bass with singles such as Crossed and SHAKTI (2024). Outside of Electronic music, Jayant has shown to be a versatile producer and mixing/mastering engineer in the Pop and Hip Hop spaces. Notable releases for artists such as House of Asha and JAK show that the Dust Breaks sound can be freely applied to any music. Jayant uses Dust Breaks as a vessel of expression for his passion towards animals, and the intersection of animals and media (such as film and video games). Building upon over two decades of experience in the visual arts, he has been the sole vision behind the Dust Breaks brand, including album artwork/merchandise that often features animals and references to the media that has influenced Jayant’s longtime creative endeavors.
