By 7 years old, Michael Lindsey would begin classical piano training. At 13, he began to play guitar while on punishment to avoid boredom. He took to guitar naturally, playing Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" three days after picking it up. These two musical abilities would propel young Michael to playing in a local band and studying popular American music from the 1920's to now. Michael left for Howard University, and there, was given the nickname "Spike" by comedian Tony Cobain for his work as a director. At Howard University, Spike Lindsey honed his skills by rapping in cyphers in DC and producing his fellow students diss tracks. Spike Lindsey returned home to Atlanta, GA. After years of playing acoustic sets in local bars, coffee shops, and small venues, he has mastered his sound and is bringing listeners into his own alternative, rock-infused world of hip-hop beats, sweetly melodic hooks, and uplifting yet topical lyrics.
