Ian Martyn is a singer and multi-instrumentalist living on the California central coast inspired by the meeting of the coast and the forest. He enjoys creating genre-blending music, fusing various different musical genres and traditions together. His music often incorporates elements of Irish traditional music, folk, prog rock, and metal. After receiving an M.A. in Ethnomusicology from UC Davis, Ian played in a diverse number of groups and bands such as Gygax, BONEHENGE, Glitter Fish, Mono Twins, Gamelan Sinar Surya, and the Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara. He has also traveled the country as a DJ, playing several gigs per year on both coasts as well as a regular DJ gig in the SoMa district of San Francisco. Currently, he releases both solo and collaborative tracks through GameGrooves, Pixel Mixers, and Man on the Internet as well as independent releases.
