Composer and analog synthesist, Loula Yorke, creates alogrithmic music from her Cottage Studio in Suffolk, England. Her luminous, trance-inducing loops of sound conjure a connection between human pattern-making and cosmic cycles unknown. And just as a tilt in Earth’s axis gives us the seasons, the smallest shift in a sequence can expand one sound into a musical universe. Yorke's music practice incorporates socially engaged live sonic art pieces, such as 2021’s Atari Punk Girls, as well as critically acclaimed recorded works, such as 2022’s Florescence, and live modular synthesis performances that incorporate a kaleidoscope of melodic sequences, noise, and snatches of processed voice. Yorke has played to audiences of experimental music-lovers everywhere from abandoned churches and warehouses to esteemed spaces such as the Sonic Arts Research Centre, Cafe Oto, and Snape Maltings concert hall. In January 2024, Yorke will be releasing her fifth studio album, Volta, composed, played and recorded live using her modular synthesiser.
