What started out as simple high school poetry assignments from his teacher in 2005 at Freire Charter High school, Y City then decided that he wanted to become an artist. Infatuated with the various rhyming patterns of poetry, Y City decided to continue to write outside of his school assignments. He then began to play with different sounds and beats to incorporate within his poetry. He laughingly admits his first song was terrible but he's thankful he didn't stop there. Even with challenges along the way, Y City continued to pursue his dream and go hard for his love of music
