Biography

Carioca pianist, composer and writer, Monique Aragão was born in Rio de Janeiro, on November 10, 1960. At the age of 10, she was awarded in the ALCINA NAVARRO contest. Other awards followed, such as the LIDDY MIGNONE (1973) and LÚCIA BRANCO (1976) contests, the 1992 SHARP PRIZE, WOMAN OF THE YEAR, in the MUSIC category in 2009, by the National Council of Women of Brazil, Academia Brasileira de Letras. Monique has a degree in music from the University of Rio de Janeiro and in her authorial discography are the albums MONIQUE ARAGÃO (1991-Perfil Musical) ; CANOAS (1993-Perfil Musical); VENTOS DO BRASIL (1995- French label Buda Musique - with worldwide distribution); OS OLHOS DE CRISTAL (1997-Vitale Records.) for children; MARCAS DA EXPRESSÃO (1999- Kuarup); SUITE DO RIO (2006- Delira Música); AS CORES DO POETA (2016 - Cendi Music); MELHOR SEM PALAVRAS (2019 - Delira Música); SEIS ESTUDOS PARA A MÃO ESQUERDA (2022 – Mills Records); NOTÍVAGOS (2023 – Sleep Tales). Monique Aragão was also a member of the panel of Judges for the Carioca Carnival, in series A and Especial. She was a professor at the University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) between 1999 and 2001. She was a professor of interpretation and vocal technique on FAMA, REDE GLOBO’s reality shows (2002 to 2004) and was nominated for the Rival-Petrobrás award (2006) as BEST ARRANGER by CD “Suite do Rio”. She works in TV productions as a music producer and develops a unique work as a music teacher.
