Biography

Emmanuel Onafowokan, better known under his stage name as EJR is a singer and song writer raised in southeast London. EJR's introduction into his love for music stemmed from his initial exposure to afro juju artist and legend Shina Peter at the tender age of 2 and then his exposure to the pop sounds of the King of Pop (Michael Jackson), certified his love for music and performance. EJR has been heavily rooted and influenced by gospel music which can be felt through his soft yet gritty sound. His involvement with the London Community Gospel Choir has enabled him to perform around the world, providing supporting vocals for the likes of Madonna, Tom Jones, Nick Jonas, Will Young and Justin Timberlake. In 2015, EJR formed a boy band (BEKLN Mile) who auditioned for the 2015 X factor series at the wembley arena. However the group was left with much disappointment after their journey was cut short after the judges house stage at the live show reveal. The group eventually disbanded but EJR's passion for music has spurred him on to the release of the first single Time Apart which is taken from his debut EP - L.O, set to be released towards the later part of the year 2018. EJR's sound can be described as a fusion RnB, Soul, Pop and Gospel - EJR prides himself on having a message in his music, one that would be relatable to all and seeks to encourage those experiencing hardship in life and love.
