Biography

by Music Opinion Magazine, England described as one of the finest Czech guitarists, is only Czech guitarist he gave recital in Carnegie Hall, New York and Royal Festival Hall in England. He is winner in four international guitar competitions: Volos, Esztergom, Kutna Hora and Markneukirchen and he received medale bronze in Radio France Competition in Paris. Professor on the Janacek Academy of Music in Brno and at Conservatoire of Brno, president of Czech Classical Guitar Society and chairman of the International Guitar Festival and Courses BRNO. Studied at the Brno Conservatoire, the F.Liszt College of Music in Weimar, Germany, Doctor of Arts degree on the Academy of Music in Bratislava, Slovakia and he got docent degree on Janacek Academy of Music, Brno, Czech Republic. 27 composers from 16 countries have dedicated works to him (N.Koshkin: Usher Waltz, J.Morel, J.W.Duarte, F.Kleynjans, C.Cardosso, M.Tesar, A.Tucapsky, M.Stedron, M. Linnemann etc). He did the world premiere performances of works by important composers, like Leo Brouwer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0Ov27_7bcA), Stěpán Rak, Václav Kučera and others. Blaha has given concerts in prestigious halls in 45 countries of Europe, Asia, Latin America in addition to U.S.A. He recorded 7 solo CD´s, another 6 CD´s as soloist with other musicians, and radio and television recordings in several countries.
