Biography

Samling is the brainchild of singer songwriter Max Groundstroem whose mix of pop, rock and Swedish neo psychedelia have earned them a spot in the Scandinavian music scene. The music is known for its great hooks, melodies and groove, often using humor to lyrically explore feelings of isolation and estrangement. Samling is set to release their fourth album titled “Autisten”, in the fall of 2023, on Robotor Records. The album promises a ray of diverse tracks, filled with melodies and hooks. Formed in Stockholm 2009 Samling released their critically acclaimed debut album “När Mullret Dövar Oss Blir Vi Rädda'' 2011 on Sony Music. The album consisted of ten psychedelic sounding pop rock songs with big melodies – which would become one of the trademarks of Samling – and was nominated for a Swedish Grammy. On the second album “Annanstans” (Columbia) Samling teamed up with producer Jari Haapalainen (Johnossi, Ed Harcourt) which resulted in a more pop sounding record and a more personal lyrical approach from Max Groundstroem. Samling also collaborated with Swedish artist Eva Dahlgren on the single “Natten”. Soon after the third and darker sounding album “Sen glömmer jag hur du ser ut” was released on the Swedish indie label Gaphals, Max Groundstroem announced that Samling would stop playing. Years went by, Max started to think about music again. Hardships came and went, and finally the fourth album was finished. The album “Autisten” will see the light of day in the fall of 2023!
