Biography

Born in Tampa Fl., Producer/Rapper/Singer/Songwriter William “Black Boi" Willingham was no stranger to the music world. Raised in a musical family with a father who not only played several instruments, but also sung back up along side his brother for the Jazz great Archie Shep. In his early years, Black Boi's Mother, a God fearing woman raised him in the church where he was influenced by the soulful sounds of Gospel music. Growing up in the inner city housing Projects of Tampa he gained what he likes to call "the true essence of Hip Hop". Black Boi describes his style of music as poverty based, created by his own experiences and through the lives of his family and close friends. This music through his own eyes is better known to him as Dark Soul Music. He started recording at 15 years old with some high school friends under the group name "The Black Plague". At sixteen he began teaching himself how to produce, engineer and ultimately record this new Hip Hop style. This is how he earned his name and developed his signature Dark Soul Sound. Black Boi not only produces and engineers Hip Hop music, he raps and sings. He has worked with some of the best studios Tampa has to offer as well as produced for numerous artist, locally and nationally. His musical inspiration is inspired by artist like James brown, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, and Hip Hop artists like Scarface, Tupac, and Jay Z, plus the sounds of 90’s R&B. His diverse ear allows him to create in a way.
