Biography

I Fagiolini’s innovative work includes premiere recordings, cross-art projects and multi award-winning music videos with Polyphonic Films: the immersive drama pieces The Full Monteverdi & Betrayal (dir.John La Bouchardière); Tallis in Wonderland and the South African collaboration Simunye; How Like An Angel with Australian circus company CIRCA for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad but also at Perth International Arts Festival, New York’s Lincoln Center & cathedrals across Europe; Amuse-Bouche included Jean Francaix’s 12-voice Ode a la Gastronomie (also a film); Orfeo (dir.Tom Guthrie) with masks/puppets and Leonardo - Shaping The Invisible with Prof Martin Kemp & projections of Leonardo art/designs. I Fagiolini premieres multi-choir masses by the mostly forgotten Orazio Benevoli and also re-released its award-winning Striggio 40-part Mass. Lockdown saw programmes for VOCES8’s LIVE FROM LONDON: Re-Wilding The Waste Land with Tamsin Greig; Long, long ago - Charpentier, Howells & Dylan Thomas! and Angels & Demons with Rachel Podger/Brecon Baroque in high-energy Neapolitan 17th century pantomime. The group’s YouTube series SingTheScore combines music analysis with off-the-wall humour while their Choral Chihuahua is the UK’s top choral podcast, now in its 7th season. I Fagiolini’s founder/director Robert Hollingworth also programmes Stour Music and the new Isle of Wight Early Music Festival - 'Fairest Isle'. The group is Associate Ensemble at the University of York.
