Perth/Boorloo based independent singer/songwriter Georga Raath is a storyteller at heart. With a heart-on-her-sleeve style of writing that is both captivating and moving, she is never shy to tell it how it is. Georga’s writing delves deep into her own psyche, painting dreamscapes from delusions, only to burn them with the kind of madness met in the darkest hours of night. Her warring mind is reflected in the diverse palette of sounds from which she draws inspiration, drinking in elements from Australian indie-rock singer/songwriter Angie McMahon to alternative hip hop artist 070 Shake and finally pop icons such as Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift. She says “I refuse to limit myself to a style or genre. Feelings come in the form of so many various textures and colours, to pack the mess down into a single set of easily defined and understood squares would just feel like lying.” This mindset allows Georga to cherish the freedom of exploration and experimentation, helping her to create music that transcends labels. Since announcing the release of her upcoming single ‘Hard To Love,’ Georga has teased that the year ahead is set to be big. Snippets of the track released to social media seem to showcase a new era for the artist as she leans more into a produced sound as opposed to the live instrumentation of her past singles. Having not released music in almost two years, one can only wonder at just what she has in store for the year ahead.
