Cornelius Olifant is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Born in Pretoria, he developed a love for music early on and began learning piano and guitar from his sister and a friend. His passion for music grew as he continued to improve his skills through reading books and watching tutorials. For Cornelius, music is therapy and a means to express his emotions. After playing as an instrumentalist for various musicians and bands, Cornelius decided to pursue his own solo music career. He gained recognition for his skills and became a highly sought-after instrumentalist for top bands in the region, including Ankh’sestars, BasicCity, Royal Heka’at, Magine, and BKNGGG. He has also performed at the renowned PACOFS. Cornelius draws inspiration from a variety of artists such as Queen, Frank Ocean, Michael Jackson, Steve Lacy, Kendrick Lamar, and FKJ. His music blends indie and alternative RnB sounds, with his piano pieces reminiscent of Ruichi Sakamoto. His music is meant to be relatable and have an ethereal feel. Aside from music, Cornelius enjoys drawing, filming, and being part of the non-profit organization 56 Tambo, which helps create jobs for youth and fosters art spaces for music and other art forms. His first original song, "Ghost," was released on March 5, 2023. Cornelius seeks to inspire others and reach his full potential as a musician without limits.
