I am Ade Zimi Matanzima, born in Uitenhage (Eastern Cape) on the 15th May 2001. Although I born in Uitenhage,I spent most of my life in Qamata which is a village near Cofimvaba (Eastern Cape). I did my academics at numerous schools with Cofimvaba Finishing School being the school of my high school grades (2016-2018) and after then I've started a new life in Johannesburg. I first made connection with music and my ears when i was just nine years old and it was gospel. Couple of years after I changed to house music but didn't last long as i transitioned to Hip hop which I mostly fell in love with. I started listening to Rick Ross, Drake, Eminem and Lil Wayne just to name a few. After that the blowing up of Emtee, Nasty C and A Reece caught my eye and that's when my focus shifted mostly on local artists and music. From that point I started writting writing music with my Grade 9 classmates and unfortunately we had to part ways the following year and that's when I wrote for myself and gave myself the name ProTeey. In my musical journey I quickly caught the eye of my community as I had a chance to perform in front of my high school learners and from there I attended as many festivals as I could and got a couple of gigs as I also had to focus on school. My most recent gigs include Rural Lifestyle Experience in Ngcobo on the 21st December 2019, Mr and Miss Qamata in Qamata on the 23rd December 2019 and 2nd Annual Gold Affair Music Festival in Tsomo on the 28th December 2019.
