7th SENSE is a Bucharest based modern jazz band, led by bassist Laura Benedek. The band formed in 2019 and it’s grown from strength to strength, achieving to build a solid image around the local and national jazz scene. They combine fresh jazz compositions with groove driven music and improvisation, their influences ranging from Nubiyan Twist to Yussef Kamaal and Christian Scott. All these will be heard in their upcoming debut album ‘Light In Chaos’, which will be released independently in the Spring of 2022. The album explores the journey, experiences and challenges that they have faced and been through together or in some situations – alone, since the early days of their formation. 7th SENSE made important appearances throughout the years and have been part of acclaimed events and projects in Romania. They opened the 11th edition of Green Hours Jazz Fest 2019 up. In 2021 they were selected to take part in a cultural project called Jam Circle, a series of live concerts meant to document the contemporary jazz scene from Romania. In the summer, they played at JazzTm, one of the biggest jazz festivals in Romania, and got the opportunity to open for Bokanté and Wynton Marsalis up. At the end of 2021 the band won the ‘Best Band’ award at the Sibiu Jazz Competition. At the moment 7th SENSE is looking forward to sharing their debut album with the world and is excited to embark in the new chapter that awaits them and hope to encourage people with their message.
