Formed in 2014, Minneapolis Minnesota's Villain of the Story can be described as a modern spin on 2010's metalcore fused with 2000's radio rock. To date the band has released 4 studio albums, amassing 75+ million plays across all platforms. After a self-released EP in 2015, the band signed with Stay Sick Recordings for their debut album 'Wrapped in Vines, Covered in Thorns' in 2017. During this era the band embarked on multiple DIY tours plus an opening spot on a portion of I Prevail's 'Lifelines' tour. The year closed out with a mutual termination of the Stay Sick contract. VOTS quickly followed things up with their next self-released effort 'Ashes' in 2018 (featuring 'Peace of Mind'). After two years of battling through the many obstacles independent bands face, VOTS kept up their DIY ethics to self-release 'Bloodshot' in late 2020 (featuring fan favorites 'Stuck' and 'Bloodshot'). "Losing Control" premiered in December of 2021, alongside their signing with Out of Line. The song has gone on to become the band’s breakout track, leading to their strongest performing album to date, “Divided” (July 2022). After a decade of writing and performing music, VOTS continues to evolve and push themselves as songwriters on their next body of work. Ranging from raw emotions with soft yet expressive storytelling, to intense and chaotic energy with a massive sound, the upcoming record from Villain of the Story beautifully showcases every aspect of the band at their best.
