Philadelphia Lyricist Jay Rivers, born Joshua Jay Rivers, began his musical journey in 2014, releasing Enigma Genesis; the project that “helped establish his foundation as a lyricist, while taking a back seat to authorship” in June of 2015. Immediately after its release, he prompted immediate radio interviews from east coast media outlets, and a few record and management deal offers from various independent record labels as well as a Universal Music Group A&R (2015). In June 2017, Jay released his debut E.P. entitled, 30, an album dedicated to his upbringing in Southwest Philadelphia. The album has garnered tremendous support from dozens of media outlets, most notably 215RealExposure (Philadelphia), WURD Radio 900 (Philadelphia), and WLVS (Washington, D.C), with the highest praise from DJ. Ebro (New York), who praised the track Letter Upstate. A uncanny wordsmith and lyricist, Jay’s early influences in music were the Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z. Growing up in Philadelphia, he admired many Philly lyricists, such as Cassidy, Black Thought and Beanie Sigel. In 2017, Jay started the independent music group entitled, SkyyyClubb Entertainment, which houses all of his music. He is the author of 2 published books, and the founder of the Non-profit FOCUSed, a grass-roots organization dedicated to serving at-risk minority males of color.<br>
