George Ricci, musician, poet, gentlemen and Zarek Silberschmidt, guitarist, performer and charmer became acquainted on the river banks of the Rhine in Basel city in 2019. While both musicians are formidable musical entities on their own, it’s when they come together and their individual elements collide to create new musical dimensions of texture and colour that ‘the magic happens’. Of course, with their music comes an endearing sense of admiration with a teacher student connection between the two. However, deeper and stronger then this is the profundity of respect and love for music, which is enhanced by the influences of two different generations. With George coming from London, England and Zarek hailing from New Zealand their musical wonderings are as broad and diverse as the distance between their places of origin. Their musical expressions have influences from west to east Europe. Sounds of Django Reinhardt, Chet Atkins, Klezmer and Balkan blend together to create musical textures, harmony and colour through classical forms of jazz and pop.
