Mezzo-soprano Blythe Gaissert has established herself as one of the preeminent interpreters of some of the brightest stars of new classical music. A true singing actress, she has received critical acclaim for her interpretations of both new and traditional repertoire in opera, concert, and chamber repertoire. Recent performances include the role of Georgia O’Keefe TODAY IT RAINS with Opera Parallele and American Opera Projects, the role of Walker Loats in Mikael Karlsson’s ECHO DRIFT for American Opera Projects at the Prototype Festival, Hansel HANSEL UND GRETEL with San Diego Opera, the role of Hannah After in AS ONE with New York City Opera/American Opera Projects, Opera Idaho, New York City Opera, Opera Memphis, San Diego Opera, Opera Colorado and Opera Columbus, Berio Folk Songs and Siegrune DIE WALKUERE with the Dallas Symphony, Berlioz L’Enfance du Christ with the Orquesta Sinfónica y Coro RTVE conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya. Upcoming engagements include The world premieres of Robert Paterson’s AUTUMN SONGS Weill Recital Hall, Linda Larsen in Laura Kaminsky and Kimberly Reed’s HOMETOWN TO THE WORLD with Santa Fe Opera, Katharine Wright in Laura Kaminsky and Andrea Fellowes Feinberg’s FINDING WRIGHT for Dayton Opera.
