Biography

Kanaku y El Tigre are an indie folk duo based in Lima, Peru. Multi-instrumentalists Nico Saba and Bruno Bellatin's work reflects both the urban and rural landscapes of modern-day Peru through earnest, heartfelt songs that feature acoustic guitars, ukuleles, electronics, and various psychedelic elements. They released their debut album, Caracoles, in 2011 and one of its songs, "Bicicleta," was featured prominently in the 2012 surfing documentary This Time Tomorrow, giving the band worldwide exposure. They spent the next several years touring and recording their follow-up, the warmly eclectic Quema Quema Quema, which was released internationally by Strut Records in May 2015. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
