STOVALIEN is an American abstract rapper and scat singer who uses a variety of vocal techniques and poetic devices to make sound art like word play, assonance, alliteration, phonaesthetics, onomatopoeia, rhythmic speak, and sound symbolism in order to produce musical, or incantatory effects. As a gimmick, he uses these techniques playfully and pretends to be a broken vinyl jukebox turntable when he performs with live bands.
