Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jalen Gray, better known as Keliief (pronounced KUH-leef), is a rapper and producer who draws inspiration from palm trees and warm weather, just as much as he does his upbringing and childhood nostalgia. From a very early age, Keliief was exposed to all genres of music, ranging from funk and new wave, to hip hop and reggae and at 14 began making his own beats for fun, which soon developed into an obsession. Making music with friends became more than a hobby, as producing became a passion, through which he could tell a story, create an outlet for self expression and invent a world of his own. His desire to write lyrics that were both compelling and introspective soon followed, as his faith in Christ began taking form. With a sound that draws from his west coast roots, alternative hip hop fandom and love for video games, Keliief is paving out a lane that both transcends and elevates Hip Hop culture, while delivering a message that’s as purpose driven as it is personal.
