Biography

GRAMMY-award nominated Jordan Rakei is a renowned multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer & songwriter who, over 5 studio albums, has been on a wide-ranging journey that explores the outer reaches of his inner psyche, traversing themes of emotional evolution, personal growth & family. After making waves in the soul, jazz & electronic scene upon his arrival in London in 2015, he self-released his debut ‘Cloak’, before signing to influential indie label Ninja Tune. He has recorded live sessions for COLORS, NPR’s Tiny Desk & BBC 6 Music (at the iconic Maida Vale Studios), sold out Brixton Academy, amassed over 1 BN streams & has recently been announced as the inaugural ‘Artist In Residence’ at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios. Jordan’s upcoming album The Loop, releasing via Decca Records (& Verve Forecast) on May 10th, is by far his most cohesive & evolutionary work to date. Recorded at RAK Studios, self-produced & mixed by Ben Baptie, it marks a new chapter in Jordan’s career that coincides with many profound changes in his personal life. Alongside his bold production style are spectacular orchestral arrangements, haunting choirs, hypnotic beats & an Odyssean-style narrative, charting a course of darkness & positivity. Jordan will take The Loop on the road later this year, with his UK/EU tour starting this September. The tour includes 2 very special performances at London's Royal Albert Hall in October, with more dates still to be announced.
