Chewing is the solo moniker for Los Angeles musician & visual artist, Nik Ewing, who is best known for his critically acclaimed band Local Natives. ‘Songs For Linnéa’ is his second solo album, a collection of minimal piano songs written for his first child. “When my first child was born, I played piano for her almost daily. This album is for her." Local Natives have consistently captivated across six widely celebrated LPs, including ‘Sunlit Youth' which boasts their gold status single “Dark Days”. ‘Violet Street’ includes their infectious single “When Am I Gonna Lose You” which cracked the Top 10 on Billboard’s Alternative charts. They’ve quietly generated nearly a billion streams, sold out legendary venues such as The Greek Theatre & Red Rocks Amphitheater & performed memorable sets at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits & more. In 2020, Nik launched the record label Chewing Inc.: a home to produce music & direct a visual identity, including Omotola’s gorgeous genre bending 2021 debut single ITMOI, as well producing The Gloomies' "Talk" & art directing Jaws of Love.' ‘Patricia EP’. ‘Songs For Linnéa’ follows up Chewing's 2019 debut album ‘Pacific Ocean Blue’ a dark, liberal cover of Dennis Wilson's 1977 album in its entirety, with features from Cults, Nico Segal, POP ETC, & of course his entire band Local Natives. The ambient instrumental POB (EP) arrived in 2019, followed by remixes of Cold War Kids & Peel in 2020 and a series of double sided singles in 2022.
