Réjane Magloire (aka Reggie) was born in November 1964 in Likasi, Zaïre (now the DRC) and raised in NYC, where she trained in opera and began her career as an actress on The Electric Company (1975-1977). In the early '80s, she was part of the group Indeep, known for the hit “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life.” Producer Gordon Edwards and Mark Kamins recorded a demo with Reggie with Madonna’s “Into the Groove." Kamins informed Edwards that Madonna was not going to include it in her album, but she later released it as a single. Madonna’s version became the chart-topping hit. Reggie’s solo work includes “Whole Lotta Love,” the WNBA walk on music “New York Liberty,” and the 2005 album Forbidden Opera, a unique mix of Hip-Hop and opera. She was also apart of Tecehnotronic’s Body to Body (1991), writing songs such as: "Move That Body", "Work", "Release Yourself", and many more. Réjane Magloire passed away in October 2023 in Cambodia, leaving behind a diverse and influential musical legacy.
