Biography

Taking the term “multi-talented” to new heights, Mista Vybe is not your average musician. As a teen back in the 80’s he quickly realised that he was a Versatile Young Black Entertainer (thus the acronym V.Y.B.E.) and to this day he certainly lives up to that title. He has written (for himself and other artists) and performed numerous local and regional hits, topped the Pop charts in the all French-speaking Caribbean islands, scored a major underground hit in France, and recorded with legendary 90s “super-producer” Teddy Riley and modern Dancehall producer Rvssian among other industry “big names”. A founding member of Trinidad & Tobago’s legendary Kisskidee Karavan back in 1993, he went on to become regionally known for his classic Dancehall/Pop hit “Joe Le Taxi” with Sharlene Boodram in 1997, before going on to become the lead vocalist for several iconic Soca bands over the years. His solo career includes the 2006 Power Soca anthem “Ting 4 D Road” (which won him the Caribbean Soca Monarch title that year), as well as many other Soca hits. He is now one of TnT’s most respected and sought after songwriters having penned iconic Soca smashes like Destra Garcia’s “Mash Up” (which won her second place at the 2014 International Soca Monarch competition) and Machel Montano’s “Remedy” (which features Dancehall legend Shaggy on the remix and has currently racked up close to 11 million views on Youtube).
