Biography

While to the public at large any reference to the Texas industrial scene would conjure up images of factories ringed around the outskirts of Fort Worth, electronic music buffs will know full well that such weird modern music can be manufactured anywhere machines such as computers can be plugged in -- such as a computer lab, for example, the specific location where Rich Jones met his partner in the Necrofix ensemble, considered one of the more important industrial acts on the Texas music scene. Unlike Jones, who might want to consider some kind of gimmickry with his name in order to avoid confusion with dozens of other musicians, his playing partner likes to be identified simply as Bildeaux. But that's not bad for a style of music where bandmembers sometimes remain totally anonymous. Both performers were studying computer science at the University of Texas when they formed the group in the mid-'90s. Within a couple of years the Nefarious Somnabulance CD followed on the Metropolis label, an outfit known for its dedication to the industrial music scene. While the presence of "necro" in a word or name evokes the goth scene and/or corpses rising from the grave, Necrofix has been consistent in pointing out that in the case of this band the reference is tongue in cheek, an aspect to take note of for those who feel there is a total lack of humor in this style of music. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, Rovi
