How can a modern jazz quartet still conquer the listeners’ ear in 2019? The musicians from Pol Belardi’s Force have their very own distinct approach. The four performers are not afraid of taking advantage of their large musical background, drawing as much from classical and jazz education as from their distinctly open minds towards pop, rock, hip-hop and electronic music. The result is a fresh blend of modern improvised music, subtly expressed through Pol Belardi’s original compositions, driven by strong grooves, exquisite harmonies, lyrical melodies, clever use of space, tension and release, diverse moods and a big amount of interaction and fun. The Luxembourg-based band has released a first album entitled Delusions of Grandeur, on Italian label EMME in 2014 (still under the name 4S). In 2016, Force played a special concert extended with Orchestre Estro Armonico, a 16-piece string ensemble, performing an evening full of original music in a subtle orchestral setting. Teaming up with Riaz Khabirpour on guitar and the strings from Kaiser Quartett, thet then focused on the making of their second album Creation/Evolution, which was released in 2017 on Double Moon/Challenge Records. In November 2017, they won “Best Band” award at the Sibiu Jazz Competition, Romania. Currently preparing Organic Machines, scheduled for release by French label Cristal Records in October 2019, Pol Belardi’s Force are extensively playing and touring, always eager to see where music brings them next.
