2 Cents Ain't Enough

Biography

K.O. Musik was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He began rapping in high school after receiving an old microphone, pre-amp, and recording software from his older brother. Becoming a rapper was never on his to-do list, but with all of the necessary equipment at his disposal, he had no reason not to give it a shot. After starting college in 2008 at the University of Missouri, he continued recording music. At that time, simply going by the name K.O., he and his peers quickly realized he had a natural songwriting ability. K.O. recorded and mixed his first solo mixtape, "My 2 cents". Soon after completing his bachelors degree, K.O. took a break from music and joined the corporate world. He worked a desk job for a few years before deciding to go into business for himself. In 2015, he became the owner of a successful local moving business. After focusing his attention on his business and completing his master's degree in business management, K.O. realized he was missing his passion for making music. After a supportive nudge from his wife, K.O. began writing again. In the summer of 2019, the updated stage name K.O. Musik was born, and his first official EP, appropriately named "2 Cents Ain't Enough", was released. K.O. Musik is heavily influenced by the 90s hip hop era. He admires lyricism, punchlines, and storytelling. His top influential artists span accross decades and consist of Nas, J. Cole, Big Krit, Kendrick Lamar, and the late Nipsey Hussle.
