Benedict Taylor works in contemporary composition and producing, modern string performance and improvised music in the British and European music scene. He writes for live performance, film, theatre, contemporary dance, art installation, and electroacoustic composition. In performance, he predominantly works within improvisation, new composition and 20th/21st century music As a composer for film, theatre and television, he has written for over 35 feature films, shorts, television/online series and stage plays, with his work featuring at film festivals and theatre venues including; MoMA New York, Rotterdam Film Festival, Film London, Netflix, Venice Film Festival, Berlinale, Palm Springs Film Festival, London Film Festival, Royal Court Theatre, Trafalgar Studios London, Edinburgh Fringe, BFI, NCPA Mumbai. Described as a virtuoso violist, as a performer he has created over over 40 album releases in solo and ensemble settings. Through his live work he has featured at festival, venue and radio appearances including; Spontaneous Music Festival Poland, Jazz en Nord France, Shinjuku Pit Inn Tokyo, Cafe Oto, The Vortex, London Contemporary Music Festival, Kings Place, Ronnie Scott's, Aldeburgh Festival, Fete de la Musique, Berlin, Galway Jazz Festival, Nonclassical London, Southbank Centre, Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican, ICA London, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 2, Resonance FM, Radio Libertaire Paris, BBC Late Junction, BBC Hear and Now, NTS Radio.
