b. 23 March 1972, Portlaoise, County Laoise, Eire. She grew up with an interest in music and in her teens sang with local musical societies. Successful appearances at local concerts led to her joining Hazel records where her first release, a four-track EP, Money Talks, gained her considerable air play. Lalor’s break came in September 1993, when the very popular Louise Morrissey was incapacitated by a serious car crash. During Morrissey’s absence, the talented Lalor fronted her band, fulfilled all her Irish and UK commitments and quickly established herself as one of the best young singers on the British and Irish country scene. She has since fronted her own Country Band and has created a considerable impression at concerts all over Ireland and the UK. At one concert, she even greatly impressed Garth Brooks, who unexpectedly arrived at the show during his visit to Ireland. Her debut album, produced by Ray Lynam, clearly demonstrates her ability to handle new country material such as Jamie O’Hara’s ‘For Reasons I’ve Forgotten’ and Eurovision composer Teresa O’Donnell’s ‘If This World Could Love’, as well as old-time favourites, all interspersed with the expected country and Irish, especially her stunning rendition of ‘Lovely Laoise’.
