The Victorian English Gentlemens Club get pleasure from building cold-hearted shambolic weirdo pop music. They listen to Swans, Liars, Wire, Grinderman, Deerhoof, Cardiacs and ‘Flowers of Romance’ by PiL, but have an affinity with the three-minute pop song. Formed at Cardiff Art School by Adam and Louise, the band are now based in East London. They have unashamedly lo-fi leanings. Over their 4 albums they’ve progressively evolved from minimalist post-punk to a far darker no-wave feel, which they now piss proudly from every pore. In the last year the band have felt cold in Russia, hot in Athens, damp in Wales, fresh in Switzerland, drunk in Slovakia and comfortable in Paris.
