Mattea Musso is an Italian mezzosoprano and pianist, specialized in the Baroque and Renaissance styles as well as traditional music from the Mediterranean, harmonizing popular and classical music whilst remaining faithful to the origins of both. She studied piano at the Conservatories of Siena and Florence where she studied opera singing too. At the Baroque section of Formazione Maggio Musicale Fiorentino she perfected her craft. Mattea studied with Alan Curtis, Peter Phillips, Caroline Trevor, Janet Coxwell, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Jordi Savall, among others. She has been part of some of the most prestigious festivals of classical music in Europe directed by Peter Phillips, Federico Maria Sardelli, Nicola Pazkowskij, and others. In 2017, Mattea recorded her first soloist album Toutes les nuits. A conceptual anthology of oneiric music through the aesthetics of the Baroque, Renaissance and folkloric music. The album presents the night in all its phases: from going to sleep and sunset, going through dreams and the mystery of the night, unto the awakening moment and its dawn. Teatro Colón Magazine: “Musso’s beautiful and natural emission, her musicality, and her interpretive intelligence are the tools that allow her to jump from the songs of Janequin and Verdelot to the melodies of Mediterranean folklore...” Cantabile Magazine: “Musso’s interpretation, expressed delicately, beautiful in the vocal and subtle in the details, is excellent and moving.”Web: www.matteamusso.com
