Biography

Borna Pehar (born 1997) is a pianist, composer, and producer from Zadar, Croatia. He completed his primary and secondary music education in Zadar, after which he pursued classical music studies for one year in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Transitioning from classical to jazz, he began studying jazz piano at the Kärntner Landeskonservatorium in Klagenfurt, Austria, under the mentorship of Robert Bargad. After earning his bachelor's degree in Klagenfurt, he continued his master's studies at the prestigious Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna, in the class of Oliver Kent. Pehar actively participated in various jazz workshops, providing him with the opportunity to work and study with musicians such as Joe Lovano, Antonio Sanchez, Gregory Hutchinson, David Kikoski, Joel Ross, and many others. He is highly involved in the Croatian music scene, playing in projects such as Jazziana Croatica, Ante Gelo, Dalmotion, etc., as well as engaging in international collaborations. He has collaborated with the Tonkünstler Orchestra, JM Jazz World Orchestra, John Fedchock, Klemens Marktl, and many more. In October 2019, Pehar showcased his talent at the 8th Croatian Competition for Young Music Artists “Boris Papandopulo,” where his trio secured the 2nd prize from the expert jury. Additionally, he was recognized as a finalist in the music category of “Večernjakova domovnica,” held in Frankfurt in 2020.
