beautiful-fortune is a music and art project founded by Philadelphia-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Jameel Farruk. Farruk has been releasing music since 2011, under his own name. With a catalogue of over 60 songs released via albums, EPs, and singles, Farruk's discography is ever growing. The beautiful-fortune project represents Farruk’s deliberate abandonment of his indie alt-rock roots, and serves as a springboard for the artist to be able to explore new genres with impunity. The project additionally serves as a platform where Farruk introduces listeners to his hand-drawn artwork for the very first time. The first single under the beautiful-fortune moniker was released at the start of 2021. The track aptly titled "2020", explored the depths of a year amidst the pandemic from the eyes of the artist. The track provides listeners a unique soundscape, where melodic guitar riffs are juxtaposed with scratchy, lo-fi audio sampling. The song was co-produced with Adam Laub of DECOUPLR and Todd Mecaughey of Secret American. The next beautiful-fortune project is a collaboration with his long time friend, Lucas Kozinski of Fried Monk. 2021 clearly has Farruk seeking new ground and embracing his new moniker. Alongside Philly-based collaborators he calls his peers, beautiful-fortune might just be Farruk’s best, if not most ambitious attempt yet.
