Sketches from the Road

Imperfect Perfectionist

Biography

Keith O’Rourke is an Alberta based jazz musician known for playing the tenor and baritone saxophones. In 2017, Keith released his debut album “Sketches From The Road” which met with success including one review that said “Even if the name of the disc is a dead giveaway, nothing can really prepare the listener for the vivid nature of the music” and “Keith O’Rourke may just as well be a graphic artist for the creation of these memorable works”. He followed that up by writing and arranging an album for his Baritone Madness project that features the low end of the saxophone family in all its’ glory. That album went on to be a hit with audiences and radio hosts with three consecutive months at #1 on the Canadian Earshot jazz charts as well as being #5 for the year. It also led to appearances at the 2019 Montreal, Ottawa and Edmonton International Jazz Festivals as well as invites to many festivals for 2020. Keith is currently leading his own trio (the Keith O’Rourke Trio) and co-leading a quintet with fellow Calgarian, André Wickenheiser in the Past Present Quintet. He has been involved with numerous projects and played in concerts with nearly every major jazz artist in Calgary. Such as Al Muirhead, Jim Brenan, Kodi Hutchinson, Pat Belliveau, Mark DeJong, Tyler Hornby, Jon Day, Jon McCaslin, Johnny Summers, Jeremy Brown, Gerry Hebert, Rubim De Toledo, and so many more.
