The Luftwaffenmusikkorps Erfurt (Air Force Band Erfurt) consists of around 50 professional musicians and is the only orchestra of the German Armed Forces in Central Germany. In addition to performances in a military context, the Thuringian Music Corps' range of tasks includes a lively concert activity as well as the performing of ceremonial acts within and outside the German Bundeswehr. The orchestra repeatedly demonstrates its extraordinary versatility and high musical standards at numerous public appearances, charity concerts and military ceremonies. Whether original literature for large symphonic wind orchestra, arrangements of classical works, swing, rock & pop, film music or traditional marches - all of this can be found in a concert program of the German Air Force Band Erfurt. In addition, the individual musicians of the orchestra demonstrate their chamber music qualities in various small formations. Following reunification, the music corps was set up as "Heeresmusikkorps 70" in Erfurt in April 1991. On July 1, 1994, the orchestra was renamed in "Heeesmusikkorps 13", and in October 2001, the orchestra became the "Wehrbereichsmusikkorps III". Since April 1, 2015, the orchestra has been known as the "Luftwaffenmusikkorps Erfurt". Since July 2018 Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Tobias Wunderle is the leader and conductor of the Luftwaffenmusikkorps Erfurt.
